Personality test for self-knowledge and teambuilding
A course concept and a personality test based on the ancient symbolism of The Four Elements have been developed within PsykosyntesForum. The concept behind these products is called Elementity ("Element Identity") and is based on Carl Jung's personality typology (Thinker/Feeler, Intuiting/Sensing, Introvert/Extrovert, Perceive/Judge).
Elementity is used by us in team development in work places, in coaching for couples and in individual coaching. In certain situations a typology can be a useful map of reality, but it is also important to remember that a typology is a crude model of the human psyche, a model that never more than schematically can describe our complex nature.
The Elementity Course
On the page Courses a course around Elementity is listed. This course is designed for work teams, for self-knowledge and team development. We among other things discuss around how differences in personality types can affect communication and cooperation, how they sometimes can cause misunderstandings and conflicts. The course includes also a number of playful group exercises around Elementity.
After this course you will have a deepened knowledge about yourself and about the image you present to others. You will be able to understand your colleagues better. You will together be able to communicate and co-operate better and more efficiently.
Course length: Six hours with breaks. Price: 1500 SEK per participant.
Cost for premises will be added, if premises outside your workplace have to be rented. Number of participants: Minimum 6, maximum 20.

Watch a video about ELEMENTITY (10 min.)
Psychosynthesis Therapist Lars Gimstedt (The video describes Elementity as a method, and also describes the test. The test described on the video is although an earlier on-line version, which now has been replaced by an off-line version with identical functionality, but which is downloaded to one's computer.)

The Personality Aspects:
The Elements Earth, Water, Wind and Fire stand for following basic qualities in our personality:
EARTH
Assets
Risks
The Thinker. "Solid Ground", the stable foundation. Predictable, nourishing, works in the background, structured, methodical, calm, self-confident. Focused on the practical and the realistic, focus on concrete goals, perseveres, trustworthy. Focus on rules, time schedules, objectivity, results. Focus on responsibility, order, attention to details, justice.
Inflexible, stubborn, can be dull, be obsessed by details, be pedantic. Can loose sight of the goal due to too much focus on the means - the organization, regulations, tradition.
WATER
Vigorous, patient, flexible, welcomes change if it comes well planned, problem solver, team player. Social, gets energy through contact with others, anxious to create harmony in relations, to see to that other's needs are met, that others get appreciation, needs appreciation for one's own well being.
Over-identifies with others, has a hard time saying no, wants to please, sensitive. Can speak in terms of "must", "should", "should not". When objected to unreasonable expectations Water can become depressed, can put on an air of martyrdom, pessimistic.
WIND
Spontaneous, energetic, active, handles resistance and difficulties well, influences others. Engaged, optimistic, enthusiastic, friendly, talkative, humorous, disorganized. Observant, but somewhat randomly, can discover things others have not seen.
Restless, unpredictable, impulsive, hard to get to know, easily bored. Can exaggerate or overdo things. Can become over-emotional.
FIRE
Intensive, passionate, goal oriented, fearless. Life is an exciting drama. Captivating enthusiasm, arouses enthusiasm in others, but over-sensitive against becoming dependent of others. Is experienced as charming, warm, courageous, frank, self confident, but can become angry at those with differing opinions.
Impatient, can boss people around, uncontrolled, insensitive, quarrelsome. Can interpret situations in negative or even erroneous ways.
Sixteen different combinations
A typical personality can be described as being dominated by one or two of the elements. In more rare cases, a personality can be described as having a balance between all elements. In the concept of Elementity we have chosen to make a description based on the combination of two elements, in order to reduce the number of possible combinations to a practical level. This gives a typology based on sixteen main personality types (the types dominated by one element have been denoted as having two of this element):
The percentage numbers describe how the different personality types are distributed in a typical western culture. This data is taken from scientific research documents spanning over a period of several decades of using the Myers-Briggs test, a common test for the Jungian typology.
As is described in the page Subpersonalities, our personality in most cases is built up by a number of different parts, subpersonalities. The Elementity for one subpersonality may differ from another.
When taking the Elementity test, it is therefore recommended that you first decide which subpersonality you want to test, and to consciously identify with it (by going back to memories of being in it and to associate with these memories).
When purchasing the Elementity test, you will be able to do the test as many times you want, thus you will be able to assess the Elementity of many of your sub-personalities. If you do this, it may be valuable to select two dominant subpersonalities that form a "dipole", i.e. have very differing core beliefs and basic needs.
